When to call an emergency plumber
Some plumbing problems cannot wait until the next working day. Water escaping from a burst pipe can damage ceilings, floors and electrics within minutes, and a heating or hot water failure in winter is more than an inconvenience for families, older people and anyone who is unwell.
If water is escaping and you can reach your stopcock, turn it off. It is often under the kitchen sink or near the front door. Then call us on 07853 627462, tell us what has happened and give us your address, and we will arrange to come out.
What we do when we arrive
Our first job is to stop the damage: isolate the leak or fault so the problem does not get worse. From there we repair what we can on the day. If a part has to be ordered, or the job needs more than a quick fix, we will explain what is needed and give you a clear quote before any further work.
Where a boiler is involved, any gas work is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer (registration 600466).
If you smell gas
This is a different kind of emergency. Turn off the gas at the meter if it is safe to do so, open doors and windows, avoid naked flames and electrical switches, and leave the property. Call the National Gas Emergency Service free on 0800 111 999, which is open 24 hours a day.
